Remembering Amy ...

I did this sketch a few weeks after Amy Winehouse had passed.  It's unfortunate, she could've had a comeback if she sobered up.

Magical Moments!

I haven't blogged in a longggg time. I worked as an arts and crafts director for summer camps this summer and it was pretty much my whole summer. But exactly one week ago I started my new journey and dream of working in Disney World!
It's still surreal that I'm here, I've been talking about being in Florida forever but now it's really here! I got so lucky with wonderful roommates and a room of guy friends that we're close with. We've become our own family in under a week. I cannot wait to celebrate the holidays with them.  I live in a three bedroom apartment and each room has two girls with our own closets and bathrooms.
I am excited to start working as well.  I am working at the LARGEST merchandise store in the Walt Disney Company! I hope this journey doesn't pass me by too quickly because I want to enjoy every moment of it.

Notorious & Notable Women Exhibit

A few months ago, my class went to see an exhibit about Notable women of NYC. The project was to choose pieces from the show using little to no color that could be used as spot illustrations and could be minimized in sized but still recognizable. Photoshop.

Duchess of Cambridge

I decided to do a sketch of Kate Middleton, who looked absolutely gorgeous on her wedding day!

Chelsea Market

I went to Chelsea Market recently with my class, it's a really interesting place to draw because of the old factory structure and has lots of great foods to choose from!

Penn Station

A few weeks ago I went to Penn Station with my documentary class to draw on location, it is a good place to capture people on the go.

Senior Showcase

I'm graduating next month (still in shock the semester is almost over) and we had judging for our senior showcase last week.  I am extremely happy that I got two pieces into the show, one of them I literally finished the day before judging.

"tweaked" maneater

I wanted to clean up and tweak this piece. The sky was not at the same level as the figures were.  I darkened the sky and decided to dry brush this time. I think it helps to pop her out more.

Train Ladies

There are some interesting people on the LIRR and I did not exaggerate their hair styles (much).

Flat-Iron building

On St. Patrick's Day, my class went down by the Flat-Iron building. It was a beautiful day and I definitely want to go back there to draw!

Borders

grand central

I started trying out watercolor for my Documentary class since I've been using pen a lot lately.  My teacher prefers me working in watercolor, so I guess I'm sticking to it.

MoNH Bears

I went to the Natural History Museum last week and went right to the American Grizzly bears to draw from.  Little did I know that a lot of elementary schools go when the museum opens as well, so I was drawing along side a bunch of 6-7 year olds that had to draw the dioramas for a school project it was pretty entertaining.

Starbucks people

I spent some time today in Starbucks and was able to draw a few of the customers in their winter wear.

Lake Ronkonkoma

I drew the view of Lake Ronkonkoma during the NY's first snow storm. It's a beautiful place and is dear to my heart because my grandparents met on the lake as teenagers back in the day when people spent their summers there for vacation.

Man Eater

This is a finalized version of the egg tempera piece I posted two months ago. And a much better picture quality then the last one.
